Our new building project is well underway!

We're so excited to have our brand new building slowly beginning to take shape, and we pray that God will use it mightily for His kingdom here in South-East Cornwall.

Whilst we believe that The Church is living in those who believe in and follow Jesus, rather than a physical building, we recognise the importance of having somewhere safe, dry and warm to gather together as a community. For many years now we have maximised our use of all that we have on site here to serve as many people as possible in our local community, but in order to better serve those around us we must look to improve our facilities here. That's where our brand new space comes in.

The story so far

We have been praying over an expanded space on the site here for over 20 years! in 2021 we were granted planning permission for a new space and we finalised a vision for a new building that was ready to start raising funds for. See in the below video the original concept for the new space.

In the 4 years since, we've been so encouraged to see our new building begin to take shape and materialise into a functioning building which we know will be a great blessing to our local community as well as those who meet here on Sunday mornings.

We are the only location in South-East Cornwall that has a large public hall as well as a huge car park, and we desire to use all that we have here for the benefit of those in the local area. Even before we have this brand new space completed, we use our site for a huge variety of groups and activities including:

  • Youth Groups

  • Sunday School

  • Fellowship Meal Gatherings

  • A Weekly Cafe

  • Professional Dog Training

  • Weddings

  • Birthday parties

  • Local NHS Healthcare Groups

  • Schools RE lessons

  • Charity Events

  • Emergency services rendezvous point

  • Police Dog Exercise

  • Coast guard training

  • Sewing, painting, and craft groups

  • Linked to a CAP centre

  • A motorbiking club

  • Church services

  • Beach Missions

Hopes for the future

Our intention is for our site here to become a thriving hub for the local community and we expect to see a diverse collective of locals using it for all sorts of different purposes. Here are just some of the things that we expect to use this wonderful new space for when it's complete:

  • Community hall for various gatherings and meetings

  • Gallery space

  • Cafe space for the community

  • Hub for local clubs to gather and connect

  • Sports events & gatherings/functions

  • Training centre for local groups and services

  • More weddings & receptions

  • Increase our connection with local schools for their events and RE education

  • On-site camping for other church groups and youth groups

  • Mobile library

  • Mobile banking service (especially as they’ve now closed all banks in Liskeard and Looe)

  • Possible park & ride down into Looe (especially in tourist seasons - fireworks, 2 Looe festivals etc)

  • Horse Therapy

  • Community veg plots (in total here we have six acres!)

What we need

There is a lot still left to do to get to where we need to be in order for the space to be fully realised and for us to bring our vision of what this incredible space can be for our local community to life! Some of these things include:

  • An industrial kitchen installed

  • Landscaping and paving

  • Fencing and gates all around the site to make it safe for children

  • Stone walling

  • Tarmacking for disability access

  • Edging, levelling and gravelling of the car park

  • The overflow carpark needs to be edged and gravelled

  • A path from the overflow car park to the site

  • A link between the new and old building which is disabled friendly

  • Football field needs development including fencing and levelling

  • Furniture

  • Tables and chairs for 100 people

  • TV screens and projector

  • Sound system

  • Improvements to the old building

Here are some images of our current site to give an idea of where the space needs further development, as stated above.

In order to pay for the building project so far we have relied solely on donations. So far we have received generous donations from the following:

  • Members of the church here

  • Church visitors

  • The FIEC

In order to see this vision through to completion we still require funds for all of the work listed above, and will be pursuing funding through grants. We welcome any donations towards this fantastic project - if you'd like to give, or would like to know more, please contact us.
